She's 5'5" with a very slim dancer's body, though she never danced (she did gymnastics when she was little but stopped at about 12). Her eyes are blue. She's not terribly pale but has a rather pale skin tone and burns rather than tans. Personality: She's optimistic, loyal, intellectual, philosophical, extremely accepting, honest - sometimes a little too blunt. Katharine's sharp. She gets things that go over most kids' heads. She tends to banter a lot, probably getting that from her mother who banters constantly. Rambling is also a specialty of Kat's, as she's never at a loss for words. She puts others before herself all the time and doesn't realize it. She's selfish about ridiculous things like her books. She doesn't take well to people who slack off a lot and tends to speak before she thinks. She doesn't really regret saying what's on her mind although sometimes she wishes she'd phrased things more tactfully. She hates when people are closeminded and though you wouldn't know it looking at her, can punch someone out when she gets mad enough. History (Please write at least four/five paragraphs here. You're starting this character from scratch this is the place to flesh him/her out): Katharine is a twin. She's the only daughter of her parents, Thomas and Laura Davis, while her twin brother James is their only son. Katharine grew up rather spoiled by her mother and was always daddy's little girl. Her brother James was gay and her parents were extremely accepting of him. They grew up as best friends and couldn't be separated. She's never had a serious boyfriend because all of the contenders were rather ridiculous about her brother's, as they put it "condition" and she ended up punching out three of them before they decided to leave her be. She and her family lived in upstate New York until things started getting bad for them. Her father, a practicing pediatrician, was getting fewer and fewer patients, and her mother, a lawyer, had almost no clients at all. James took this news badly and as much as Katharine tried to convince him not to, ran away at 15. She'd gotten letters from him periodically but hadn't seen him since. She didn't know if he joined one of the so called "Pride Academies" ((*wink wink* if anyone wants to be James!!!)), was on the run, or was abroad. After her parents' respective jobs picked up, she convinced them to let her go away. It was hard for them leaving their only daughter, but eventually they let her go. It was better they knew where she was than have her run off as James did. Since she was little, she'd always LOVED sciences. Once she got to high school, she discovered that chemistry was her passion. Sharing a birthday with the inventor/discoverer of two gas laws -- Gay-Lussac -- she felt like chemistry was her calling. She got made fun of for being a science nerd (though she really adored most subjects in school) and a teacher's pet when she was little, but she didn't suck up. She just happened to be awesome at science. Oddly enough, she'll randomly pull out philosophical mumbo jumbo (as James called it when they were younger) and say things that no one would've thought could come from a sixteen year old. Her brother instilled her with a great love for Shakespeare and as such, takes to Shakespeare as if his word was God's (if she believed in God. Which incidentally she doesn't). And she plays violin and flute which sometimes take her out of her world and transport her into another more peaceful one. Katharine basically just wants her brother back. She's a very happy girl on the outside and mostly inside too. She wants to do something to change the world and make people accepting and her brother always gave her that push to do it. Without him she's a little wayward and needs to get used to being on her own until he gets back. Student/Faculty (please list position eg. From downstairs, she heard her parents "discussing" (as they called it) James. She did not need to hear this argument again. Blaming each other. She'd tried to tell them already that they weren't to blame. They decided that was the last time to "discuss" in front of Katharine. So Katharine avoided them. They loved her, and James, and she knew she was incredibly lucky. But she could not STAND the arguing. She could not STAND being the only child and having to be the best at everything. Tomorrow she would bring up her idea to them. And in the meantime, Katharine opened the trunk at the bottom of her bed. "Violin or flute?" she asked quietly to no one in particular. After contemplating for a moment she picked up the violin case, set up her stand and music, took a minute to tune her instrument and started away beautifully with her favorite piece. She didn't hear her parents anymore. It was almost bliss. | |||||||||
